thanks so much for your blog..I'm feeling so much better now that i have an option. I'm going to go to your doctor for help with raised scars. You had major improvement! congrats! Don't worry about the discoloration. That can dissapear with a laser. Dr. orentreich in ny is good with skin discoloration using lasers. I'm going to go to your dr. though for the flattening of scars. Thanks a bunch!

omg. my nick is val too! and i have a scar on my back. i was really young and i was starting to get chickenpox, the first bump appearing on my back.
so i asked a friend to prick it and it developed into a really ugly scar. i've always hated myself for it but this summer i'm attending a debut and wearing a strapless dress. i've realized that i dont care anymore if anyone sees it. it's part of me and i'm beautiful the way i am, and so are you ^_^. i'm so gonna enjoy that dress. thanks for posting. love ya

I realize this entry was posted a while ago but I wanted to encourage you to keep updating on your progress. It is SO hard to find information on treatments that actually provide some success. This is great to see.

Like Nick, I have keloid scars from chicken pox--not just one, but around 8, all small. In my case, it was the ones I didn't pick open, ironically. I also have a tiny one from a pimple. I mention this because families prone to these scars should look out for keloid formation in these situations (although I think kids get vaccinated against chicken pox now?) in children and teens.

Wow, I've had my keloids - two substantially sized [and growing :(]on my chest for about 5 years and have recently been considering getting them surgically removed but was afraid of the 50% chance of recurrence. This has given me some hope. I will definitely be calling for a consultation. Thanks so much for posting this!

This is so very kind of you to consistently post your journey in keloid recovery. I don't think you will ever know, how much you've encouraged others looking for answers.

Sincere thanks,

Asia

Hey...thank you so much for your blog. Its nice to know sometimes that I'm not alone when it come to suffering with a keloid. Your treatment is encouraging. I've got a keloid in the middle of my chest, about 2 inches down from my collar bone, I've had it for about 12 years now and its slowly growing, it itches occassionally and I can't wear anything with a "v" or low neck line. (I hate it)It looks exactly like yours did in 2000. Im going to seek medical treatment, having seen your result. thanks for the photos xx

Dear Anonymous,

You must try Dr. Blaine's Scar Care Treatment. I've had a huge keloid on my shoulder for years. I've triedany high potency injection at the dermatologist office, they made absolutely no difference. I've seen three dermatologists before almost giving up completely. I would were large gauze bandages to try keeping it covered. About two weeks ago, while at the Wal-Mart Pharmacy to get more cover-ups. I saw a new product that said guaranteed in big bold letters. Of course, it peaked my curiosity. It said guaranteed to soften and dramatically reduce the appearance of scars, even old keloid scars. This is only a clear high grade silicone patch. The patch is large, so you cut off what you need to cover. Like I said previosly, my keloid is flat it is barely noticeable. Second best part, it cost only $18. If you are at the end of your rope, please try Dr. Blaine's Scar Care Treatment before giving up, you won't be sorry!!

Hi Asia,

I am happy you are seeing results with your treatment. For me, the silicone sheet did not have any substantial result in the appearance of my keloid. While the sheet was on my keloid for a long period of time, it would become less raised and irritated, but once off it would revert to its original condition.

I have been struggling for many years to manage keloid growth and pain. It is a very personal struggle that stretches beyond superficial the cosmetic concerns, and one that is difficult for many people to understand.

Thank you for your courage not just in the decision to treat the keloids, but for sharing your experiences with others. Your photographs and descriptions have given me hope that treatments to control and heal the scars are possible.

Thank you

Keloid Scar

My keloids are from surgeries I've had. The one on my upper arm is from skin cancer being removed and steroids were used to keep the scar from worsening. It isn't raised anymore but I too have discoloration, veins and the skin looks overstretched. The other keloid was from the scar left from a hysterectomy. It itched, was raised and red. After having some acupuncture sessions for a bladder condition I noticed that this large scar was softer, less raised and didn't itch anymore. The acupuncturist wasn't surprised but I was and happily so. It was an unexpected answer and something more to try. It worked for me.
