My Keloid Story

I was seventeen when I developed my only keloid scar, so my scar is about ten years old now. It developed from a pimple located on my left shoulder. It took me 7 year to finally overcome my shame and embarrassment in order to get treatment.

Three years ago, I received my first treatment. I have received two injections from Dr. Jeffery Fischman within three year. I know, I should have gotten more, but for me to forget my problems, I ignore it.

Currently (2008), I have gotten three more injections, and my keloid is flat. My last injection was on November 20, 08'. However, I think I may have to go for another injection in the future.

Since treatment, my keloid scar has under gone many changes. First the positive aspects, my keloid no longer itches, and it no longer feels extremely sensitive (irritated) when touched. It is now flat and has not grown larger than its original size (before the treatment). Actually it has gotten smaller. Lastly, the color is closer to my skin tone. Now the negative aspect, my skin has slight discoloration. I have a slight loss of pigmentation around my keloid, and small red veins are apparent.

I hope my before and after photographs will help others suffering from keloid.
